Imagine there is no record of you of you anywhere – no birth certificate, no identification number, no school or government ID. How would you prove you exist?
That is unfortunately the story of some children growing up in children’s homes in Honduras. Without identification, they are not able to register for university, sign a work contract, rent an apartment, or get medical treatment at a public hospital.
Our newest program – the I Exist Initiative – takes that challenge head on!

I EXIST'S MISSION

I Exist Initiative works to secure legal identities for vulnerable children and youth through legal expertise, collaboration and advocacy, because children have a right to a name, nationality and a future.

I EXIST'S VISION

That all Honduran children and youth exist legally. This entails that their rights to a name and nationality are fulfilled, which enables them to be a visible and active part of society.
