THE TRANSITION HONDURAS PROGRAM
What Is The Transition Honduras Program?
The Transition Honduras program is for youth from children’s homes where they have stayed short or long term. We believe that each youth growing up in children’s homes deserves to receive help and support in their transition from children’s homes and back into society. This step is frightening for so many, as they often don’t have a network to catch them and help them start an independent life. The Transition Honduras program aims to catch the youth getting ready to leave the children’s homes and give them a chance to become what they dream of and get on their feet.
How Does The Program Work?
The process to get accepted into the program starts at the children’s home a year before the young person is planning to leave the children’s home.
We believe that the best transition is a transition where the youth have been involved in the process of selecting what carrier they want and have made plans for their future. We will therefore only accept youth that have been through this planning process with the Formation for Life program, where we as an organization have been able to follow and support the youth over a longer period of time as it’s not all about what they want to become but also about where they see themselves living geographically and how we can support them there.
When a young person has been accepted into our program, he or she moves out to the location that he or she has selected. We will then have a tutor ready to help him or her get installed and the support to get to know his or her new community. The tutor will be his or her contact person and will assist with all that has to do with education, looking for a job, and other relevant issues.
The youth that are accepted into the program also follow and assist with workshops and other activities that will help their growth and help them get settled.
